I note that the point of an -rc1 isn't necessarily to have all known issues 
resolved, but to inform the community that we've switched from development of 
new features to release stabilization (I.E. a feature freeze is in place until 
we get the release out), and that we want _bug_reports_ now, so they'd better 
test their stuff with this and let us know what's broken or else it may not 
work in that release.

Release notes saying "X, Y, and Z are known issues" is more or less expected.  
(Heck, the final version is guaranteed to have _something_ wrong with it.  
That's why bugfix-only dot releases are a good idea. :)
