Apparently, glibc's static linking support is deprecated?

Ulrich Drepper, the glibc maintainer, has gone crazy and believes that static
linking should never be used for anything:
http://people.redhat.com/drepper/no_static_linking.html
(Somebody should tell him about execute in place support, about dynamic
linking dirtying per-process physical pages, about portability between
systems... He doesn't seem to understand any of it, according to that
rant...)
According to archive.org that page has been up since 2004...
