Has anyone setup mirrors, or requested them on github.com?  It would be 
nice if i could clone/fork from there and not use my quota.

I've only been using this for a while, but for example with linus's 
linux-2.6  i can clone/pull the github mirror  and use 0Mb of  quota.  
and i only use quota space for patches i add.
