Ok, tried it again and the build broke.

Attached config makes it to the end of the build (with lots of warnings) on an 
x86-64 host running under Ubuntu 7.10, then it dies with:

>   LD libuClibc-0.9.29.so
> gcc: libc/libc.oS: No such file or directory
> make: *** [lib/libc.so] Error 1

Is this because I told it not to do pic only, or because I selected build at 
once mode (which doesn't seem to have done anything)...

It's build at once mode.  Right.  Just FYI: that not only does nothing, it 
then breaks the build.
