How wo change the file descriptor in uclibc

Hi,
I am compiling perl for uclibc and it breaks becase uclibc FILE has no
member called _fileno. The file that fails to compile is perlio.c.  In
this file it tries to set the _fileno to -1.What member in the FILE
structure can be used instead? Does uClibc provide some API to do the
same?

Any pointer will be very helpful.
