libdl in static build

It used to work many moons ago -- I used to link a bunch of ldso
stuff into the libc.a to make it possible.  But I've not tried it
for ages and ldso has been reworked quite a lot since then.  So
as Mike says, in theory yes.  In practice -- maybe.
