All I can say is that it was done before my time ;-)  In fact
even before gerg's time IIRC ;-)  It would be nice if they were the
same,  but they aren't.

I read through your changes, but I haven't checked it properly.

Indeed,  m68knommu puts the argc on the stack on all versions including
2.6 AFAIK,  m68kmmu does not.

The shared lib thing is probably a fair call so long as it currently
isn't set for !MMU targets.  Seems that it isn't from a quick check.
