linuxthreads.old is the "stable" one, linuxthreads should be the new one, 
but is not working correctly yet, also TLS can't be used (needs probably 
ld.so changes, partly or fully done already in the nptl branch).

hppa is only in the latter (being the only arch appropiate for you)
