Yep -- I'm using SSH w/ no problems.  I depend on it for remote access as
I do not run telnet.

I built a wireless network in a neighborhood nextdoor to me using soekris
boards / PC Engines WRAP boards w/ GEODE SC1100 processors that need i586
kernel and uclibc -- they run SSH just fine.  These are based on a
buildroot from around January, 2005 timeframe w/ 2.4.28-pre4 kernel.

Best of luck w/ figuring out what you need.
