busybox: vi & delete key

Well that's strange, as vi has never behaved like that in the many 
flavors of Red Hat, Fedora, and LFS that I have used.

Are you saying this is a vi  *configuration*  issue?  I would like 
the delete key to delete the character at the cursor, just like it 
does on the command line.
