Trouble building armeb gcc-4.1

Hello,
  I  am using buildroot for my xscale based target, but so far I have been unsuccessful in creating the toolchain. I have search the archives thinking someone else would've come across what seems like an obvious problem, but was unsuccessful.
  My error is the following:

  buildroot/build_armeb/staging_dir/bin/armeb-linux-uclibc-ld: unrecognised emulation mode: armelf_linux
Supported emulations: armelfb_linux armelfb
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

  If I use an earlier gcc (i.e 3.4.4) it seems to get pass this point but fails when it tries to compile the C++ portion (thats why I thought I would use a newer version). I also attached my present .config

  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
