The position of uClibc's developers (with me not being an core uClibc
developer, but tryin' to keep up with all the uClibc changes and being
the VAX port maintainer) is irrelevant here.

There was one more discussion about gcc-2.95.2 on LKML these days and
the outcome is basically that newer GCC's features may now be used. So
expect that these features actually will show up in the code, that is,
you'll need to do more and more hacking around to keep the code
compatible with 2.95.2. As the result, you'd start using a newer
compiler like some 3.x branch.

I for one am using GCC HEAD for VAX development, so I know that this
basically works, at least for the VAX target.
