if you're just using the vanilla make/source stuff out of buildroot, python 
doesnt build correctly
you should try these updated files:
http://dev.gentoo.org/~vapier/uclibc/python-cross-compile.patch
http://dev.gentoo.org/~vapier/uclibc/python.mk

it's been a while since i looked at the python.mk but i'm sure solar has some 
things he could throw in to make it even better
