As Gentoo gets ready for it's 2004.3 release cycle we have prepared a
number of uClibc stages (aka development environments) that need
testing. The arches we are initially supporting right now are x86, ppc
and arm little endian.

http://gentoo.osuosl.org/experimental/ppc/embedded/stages/
http://gentoo.osuosl.org/experimental/arm/embedded/stages/

x86:
8.2M stage1-x86-uclibc-20040927.tar.bz2
 16M stage2-x86-uclibc-20040927.tar.bz2
 34M stage3-x86-uclibc-20040927.tar.bz2

9.0M stage1-x86-uclibc-hardened-2004.3.tar.bz2
 17M stage2-x86-uclibc-hardened-2004.3.tar.bz2
 37M stage3-x86-uclibc-hardened-2004.3.tar.bz2

Set 1 is your std i386/-Os stages
Set 2 (these are the ones I like) are complete Position Independent
Executables and coupled with with IBM's SSP
piessp add a slight bit of size overhead compared to your standard x86
stages but offers much better security protections which make them an
ideal starting point for your x86 uClibc based security projects.

ppc:
Nothing special here. With some luck we may have ppc-pie in the future.
9.7M stage1-ppc-uclibc-2004.3.tar.bz2
 22M stage2-ppc-uclibc-2004.3.tar.bz2
 41M stage3-ppc-uclibc-2004.3.tar.bz2

arm:
9.3M stage1-arm-uclibc-2004.3.tar.bz2
 19M stage2-arm-uclibc-2004.3.tar.bz2
 39M stage3-arm-uclibc-2004.3.tar.bz2

You can use these stages to build packages for your zaurus/netwinders or
whatever your desire is. In the future after this release cycle we plan
to offer arm big endian stages as well.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
As always bug reports go to http://bugs.gentoo.org first.
Bug reports to the uClibc mailing list about these stages will result in
you being flamed for not paying attention.
Thanks to all those of you that have done bug testing, reporting and
submitted patches or helped in the fundamental design of things.
(Mike/Peter/iggy/Koon..)

enjoy..
