4) apply a small fix to xfsprogs to eliminate its usage of mincore, 
since that usage is entirely optional and is only needed in one of the 
xfs "repair shell" type tools, IIRC

I've been patching out xfsprogs usage of mincore in my buildroot 
Makefiles for quite some time and have had no ill effects.
