[uClibc]shared libraries on mipsel

I'm having trouble getting a mipsel-linux target (5432) running. I have
build a uclibc toolchain using Erik's buildroot script.   The combo I
have tried is:

binutils: 2.12.1
gcc-3.2
uclibc version: 0.9.16, 0.9.19

If I build busybox/ash statically, the system boots okay and runs.  If I
try to build using shared libraries, the system hangs on boot.

If I try to run ld-uClibc-0.9.19.so on a system that has been booted
with static executables, this dies with "Segmentation fault"

Does anyone have and ideas what I've missed ??
