[uClibc]toolchain: x86->arm cross-compilation grief

hi all

some questions on the cross-compilation environment created using the toolchain
project in CVS.

 - i had to monkey with the makefile to complete the build. should an x86->arm
   cross-compiler build "out-of-the-box", or is that still under development?

 - i'm trying to build linux-2.4.19-rmk4 kernel using the resulting
   arm-uclibc-gcc. can this compiler build linux kernels or is it set up
   strictly for building userspace applications?

 - the linux compile bombs immediately in 'make dep'. it seems that the
   kernel-headers-2.4.18 which was downloaded and used while building the
   compiler targets the ebsa-285 architecture, but i'm targeting the clps-711x
   architecture. how do i configure the toolchain build process to use my
   clps-711x arch instead of ebsa-285?

thanks in advance
