i'm rather happy to announce i got python-2.2 onto my 4MB zflinux device 
using uClibc. in fact the entire working filesystem (using busybox-0.60.2) 
and a simple test script take up 3036KB (1036KB compressed initrd image), 
kernel is extra.

i'm using python-2.2, uClibc-0.9.10, and gcc-3.0.4. it took a fair amount of 
"doodling" around, some Makefile adjustments, and a slight code modification.

i'd be happy to post the instructions if anyone's interested (if nobody's 
interested i'll just save myself the effort). i'm not 100% sure what would be 
the best way to get this out to the python community.
